Dr Nicolas Wiernsperger is a French PhD with specialization in physiology.
He made his career in the pharma industry essentially in fundamental research.
After heading a cerebral microcirculation research unit at Novartis, he joined Lipha in Lyon where he hold two positions: 1) head of International Pharmacological Development for worldwide research on metformin pharmacology and 2) Director of 1st French public/private research unit at Lyon University with French INSERM Institution.
His research team dealt with microcirculation, notably in diabetic microvascular complications.
Dr Wiernsperger published about 150 articles as well as two books and gave close to 400 conferences worldwide.
He was invited as visiting Professor at several universities in France and foreign countries.
He is a regular reviewer for major international journals in diabetes and vascular diseases.
Since his retirement he also specialized in aging, giving many conferences on invitation.
